House Taranis Paint Recipe



This page captures the paint recipe for my House Taranis Imperial Knights. While I intend to follow the stock GW paint scheme, I use enough third party colors that it is worth capturing the recipe here so I can be consistent across all of the House Taranis knights.


Primer: Vallejo Black Surface Primer (74.602)

Final seal coat: Model Master Lusterless (Flat) lacquer

Red Armor:
  • Base - GW Mephiston Red
  • Shade - GW Nuln Oil
  • 1st Highlight - GW Evil Sunz Scarlet
  • 2nd Highlight - GW Wildrider Red
White Armor:
  • Base - GW White Scar
  • Pin Wash - GW Nuln Oil
  • Highlight GW White Scar
Black Armor:
  • Base - GW Abaddon Black
Eyes/Lenses:
  • Base - GW Warpstone Glow
  • Highlight - GW Moot Green
  • Shade - GW Biel-tan Green
Armor Trim:
  • Base - Vallejo Steel
  • Shade - GW Nuln Oil
  • Highlight - Vallejo Silver
Metal Skeleton:
  • Base - Vallejo Gunmetal heavy dry brush over primer
  • Highlight - Vallejo Oily Steel normal dry brush 
  • 2nd Highlight - Vallejo Steel light dry brush top - down.
